Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Matt Krause, who earned a second swim at the 2025 U.S. National Championships, is headed to Bloomington next fall to compete for Indiana University beginning in the fall of 2026.
“I am excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Indiana University! I want to thank my family and coaches at EMAC and Mercersburg Academy for supporting me to get to this point in my career. Thank you to the coaches at IU for this opportunity. Go Hoosiers!!”
A native of Pennsylvania, Krause is currently working on a postgraduate year at Mercersburg Academy to further his education before heading off to college. He is a member of the school’s boys’ swimming and diving team and is a top contributor for the Storm. Up until this fall, Krause trained year-round with Emmaus Aquatic Club in Allentown, where he primarily specialized in free, back, fly and IM.
At the 2025 EMAC 27th Annual A/BB/C meet in January, Krause turned in a series of top performances, winning all five of his races and logging three new lifetime best times. He prevailed in the 100 free (45.95 – PB), 200 free (1:42.90), 200 fly (1:51.82 – PB), 200 IM (1:53.18 – PB) and 400 IM (4:12.01).
Krause clocked another stream of top times at the Middle Atlantic Senior Championship in March, posting six new personal best times. He won the 100 fly (48.11 – PB), 100 back (48.11 – PB) and 200 back (1:45.16) and placed 13th in the 50 free (21.41 – PB). Krause also contested the 100 free (48.82) and threw down a lifetime best in the 200 free (1:41.05) as the leadoff on his team’s 800 free relay, which took the runner-up spot in the event. He helped his team to a 3rd-place finish in the 200 medley relay, setting a best time in the 50 back (22.39) in the process, as well as a 4th-place finish in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay and 400 medley relay.
Krause raced at the 2025 U.S. National Championships (LCM) in June, where he earned a second swim in the 200 back. He placed 30th in 2:03.05 after posting a best time of 2:01.66 during prelims. He also contested the 50 back (26.33) and 100 back (56.19 – PB), finishing 33rd and 35th, respectively.
Krause closed out the summer season with a strong showing at the 2025 Futures Championship (LCM) in Madison, where he logged two new best times. He placed 2nd in the 200 back (2:01.97), 3rd in the 100 back (55.61 – PB), 5th in the 50 back (26.25) and 50th in the 50 fly (25.98 – PB).

A Division I program, Indiana University-Bloomington competes in the Big Ten Conference, where the men’s team has won four straight conference championship titles. Last season, the Hoosiers sent 19 athletes to compete at the NCAA Division I Men’s Championship, with the team placing 3rd overall.
Based on the results from the 2025 Big Ten Conference Championships, Krause would have landed in the ‘B’ final in the 200 back and the ‘C’ final in the 100 back and 200 fly, putting him in a position to score some points early on for the Hoosiers.
Currently set to join Krause in Bloomington next fall are Elliot Rijnovean, Oliver Dawson, Gabriel Manteufel, Cooper Zakorchemny, Sam Wolf and Brody Engelstad, who should all make for strong training partners over their four years together.

“he primarily specialized in free, back, fly and IM” – SEEMS like quite a “specialists” indeed.
Congrats and welcome to Hoosier Nation!
