Referring to a publication of swimsportnews.de, the 2016 German National Championships will take place from 5 to 8 May. But the German Nationals are only the first step in a two-steps qualification system. The second part are the „German Open“ which will be held about eight weeks after Nationals.
German National Head coach talked about these dates with the swim magazine „swim & more“ – the official magazine of the DSV (German Swimming Federation). Further details about the Olympic qualification should be published soon.
swimsportnews also reported that the German National Teams will travel to Thailand in January to prepare for Rio 2016. In that training camp, they will also simulate the unusual competition times of the Olympic Games. The finals will begin in Rio at 10 pm. The Australian National Team also trained, ate, slept and competed following the Rio schedule recently.
