The newly-approved backstroke start “wedges,” which are designed to give backstrokers a more consistent starting surface at different pools, have been widely supported by those elite backstrokers who have had the opportunity to test them, like Natalie Coughlin.
With USA Swimming saying that things are still on track to debut these wedges at the Mesa Grand Prix next month, FINA and Omega have partnered to produce a video laying out in great detail how their version of these wedges work. (Omega seems to be out ahead of the field on this, though there will be other designs available.)
Cool!
