ST. GEORGE, Utah – Continuing the Trailblazer Invitational, the UC San Diego swim and dive squads doubled their day-one scores through the second day’s 13 finals events.

The women continue to lead the pack with 552 points and the men remain in a firm second with 566.5 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
ON THE WOMEN’S SIDE
Teagan MonroeKatja PavicevicJordan Phillips, and Miranda Renner opened the finals with a first-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:38.79. In the 400 yard IM, Tina Reuter swam a 4:23.77 to take third place. Aneta Wyzga and Juli Arzave went three-four in the 200 yard freestyle to add 41 more points to the Tritons’ score. Pavicevic swam a blazing 1:01.50 to secure the first spot and set a new team record in the 100 yard breaststroke. In the 800 yard freestyle, Arzavem Wygza and Alana Bathrel, Swimming the 800 yard freestyle relay, Arzave, Wyzga, Tina Reuter, and Pavicevic to take first with a time of 7:19 [gotta catch em all]

ON THE MEN’S SIDE
Starting finals with a second-place finish was the 200 yard medley relay team made up of Nathan LeeLuke PusateriChad Morrison, and Justin Morsch. The relay squad posted a 1:29.13 time. In the 100 yard butterfly, Morrison was able to snag third place with a time of 48.61. Shane Burns and Lee snagged fourth and fifth place in the 400 yard IM. Taking second in the 200 yard freestyle, Ivan Kurakin swam a 1:36.62, finishing 0.057%. Colton Milne and Pusateri finished in fifth and sixth in the 100 yard breaststroke. Finally, in the 800 yard freestyle relay, Ryan Kirton, Luigi Fanco, Kurakin, and Devin Esser finished second with a time of 6:33.66.

St. George, Utah- After day one at the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invitational, the UCSB men’s team are in first place with 379.5 points while the women are in second place with 225 points. The Gaucho men also set a new team record in the 400 Medley Relay.

Swam by Matthew DriscollAlec CullenJustin Wong, and Austin Sparrow, the 400 Medley Relay took first with a time of 3:10.38, a new record in Gaucho history. The men also finished first in the 200 Free Relay (1:19.94) which was swam by Wong, Zachary Dietz, Driscoll, and Sean Gutowski.

Individually, Sparrow took the top spot in the 500 Free (4:22.77). Matt Vinh (4:27.16) and Taber daCosta (4:28.83) finished fourth and fifth respectively. Kyle Brill was the victor in the 200 IM with a time of 1:45.28.

For the women’s, the 400 Medley Relay, swam by Nina Statler, Ashley Ray, Samantha Banos, and Reagan Nibarger, finished in 3:42.29. Banos also took first in the 200 IM(2:01.02) while Statler finished fourth in the 50 Free (23.21).Isabella Martinez-Spencer finished second in the 500 Free (4:57.07) while Cami Collins finished seventh (4:59.86).

The Trailblazer Invitational continues tomorrow with prelims starting at 10 AM MST.
