Three From NC State Selected For FINA Short Course World Championships

Soren Dahl, Anton Ipsen and Alexia Zevnik of the NC State swimming and diving team have been selected to represent their respective countries at the 2016 FINA Short Course World Championships in Windsor, Canada, Tuesday through Sunday inside the WFCU Arena.

Dahl and Ipsen will represent Denmark while Zevnik will represent Canada.

Additionally, recent graduate Simonas Bilis was chosen to compete for Lithuania in the prestigious worldwide event.

Prelims will begin at 9:30 a.m. while the semifinals and finals sessions will commence at 6:30 p.m. All events will be contested in a 25-meter pool.

About The World Championships

Up to 1,000 of the world’s best swimmers from over 176 countries will meet for the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m). Expected to draw more than 35,000 spectators, this elite competition will bring the world’s best swimmers together to compete for 46 gold medals over six days in a temporary world championship pool, constructed within the WFCU Arena.

Order Of Events

The four swimmers are slated to compete in a combined seven events, as Bilis will swim in three, Dahl in two and Ipsen and Zevnik in one a piece.

Last Time Out

Hannah Moore and Rachel Muller represented the No. 6 women’s team at the AT&T Winter National Championships. Moore collected three top six finishes and as many top-five all-time marks in program history, and Muller tabbed three top 15 finishes in Atlanta.

Pack In The Polls The men’s team remains at the top of the latest national poll (Nov. 23) while the women’s team sits at No. 6. For the men this marked the second-straight week at No. 1 of the CSCAA poll while it was the third consecutive week the women have been listed among the top 10.
