Abigail Clark, a member of the TAC titans, has verbally committed to swim at George Washington University as part of its class of 2026. The Cary High School rising senior specializes in backstroke.

Clark recently competed at the 2021 Futures Championships in Huntsville, Alabama. She placed 31st in the 100-meter backstroke, and she also swam the 100-meter freestyle, the 200-meter backstroke and the 100-meter butterfly time trials. At the 2019 Futures Championship, Clark placed tenth in the 100-meter backstroke and 24th in the 200-meter backstroke.
Her best short course times are:
- 50 backstroke: 28.11
- 100 backstroke: 55.54
- 100 butterfly: 58.75
- 200 backstroke: 2:00.78
George Washington University is a private university in Washington, D.C., and a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference. The women’s team finished fourth out of ten teams at this year’s conference championships, while the men’s team won the conference title.
With her best time, Clark would’ve made A finals in the 100 and 200 backstroke at the conference championships. George Washington University already had two swimmers place in A finals in both events, so Clark could add depth to an already stacked team.
Clark joins U.S. Open Qualifier Ava Topolewski, Julia Fifer, Julia Miles and Phoebe Wright as members of the class of 2026.
