Russian swimmer Anton Chupkov is one of 100 people who have been nominated for Forbes Russia’s annual 30 Under 30 list.
Annually, financial publication Forbes Magazine publishes a number of lists identifying the most powerful, wealthiest, and most influential people on earth. One of the most-watched for is the annual 30 Under 30 lists, which identifies people from different industries as the biggest and brightest under 30 years old.
In America, a total of 600 are recognized (30 in each of 20 different industries), which different editions of the magazine using different methods. For Russia, the total list of 30 will come from 3 winners each in 10 categories.
Chupkov is one of 100 nominees for the award, which was generated using criteria developed by business consulting firm McKinsey (the firm that Olympic gold medalist Maya DiRado left swimming to work at).
Forbes Russia’s stated goal for the program:
“We are looking for young visionaries in 10 categories: entrepreneurs, finance and investment, management, sports and e-sports, science and technology, art, music, social practices, fashion and design, and new media. Our heroes are those who, by the age of 30, have gained recognition in the professional community and have become known at the all-Russian or even global level.
The nominees include 8 athletes. In addition to Chupkov, included on the list are 15-year old Fortnite player Mark “Letw1k3” Danilov, 22-year old soccer player Fedor Chalov, 21-year old basketball player Maria Vadeeva, 21-year old E-Sports gamer Cyril “Boombl4” Mikhailov, 28-year old hockey player Artemy Panarin, 29-year old boxer Dmitry Bivol, and 16-year old figure skater Alena Kostornaya.
Chupkov, who is 23, broke the World Record in the 200-meter breaststroke to win gold at last summer’s World Championships. That was his 2nd-straight World Championship gold medal in the event following an Olympic bronze medal in 2016 when he was only 19-years old.
He also won 2 race in the inaugural season of the International Swimming League and ranked 78th overall in season-long scoring.
Winners will be published on the Forbes Russia website in late May and in the June issue of Forbes magazine.
