SMU Sweeps American Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly swimming and diving honors, for the competition week ending Sunday, November 21.

Men’s Swimming Athlete of the Week

Jack Easton * Jr. * SMU

Easton was a force for SMU during the SMU Invitational on Nov. 18-20 in Dallas, taking home two individual wins along with a facility and program record. Easton swam NCAA B-cuts in the 100 backstroke (:47.50) and 200 backstroke (1:43.07) and re-wrote the SMU record book in a prelim heat of the 200 IM with a time of 1:44.57. Easton also swam with the victorious 400 medley relay that took the gold in 3:12.09.

Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week

Ilektra Lebl * Grad * SMU

Lebl picked up a pair of individual wins and a relay victory for SMU during the SMU Invitational on Nov. 18-20. Lebl swam the fastest 500 freestyle time in the conference this season with an NCAA B-cut showing of 4:45.10 and added the second-fastest 400 IM effort of the year in 4:16.13. Lebl also led off the 800 freestyle relay for the Mustangs entry that took first place with a meet record time of 7:20.72.

Men’s Diving Athlete of the Week

Tyler Coffey * So. * SMU

Coffey enjoyed a podium showing in a pair of events during the SMU Invitational on Nov. 18-20. Coffey scored 338.15 points off the 3-meter board to take the win with an NCAA Zone score. Coffey added a strong 292.55 points off the platform to establish a personal best in a runner-up effort.

Women’s Diving Athlete of the Week

Nicole Stambo * Jr. * SMU

Stambo turned in a career performance for SMU at the SMU Invitational on Nov. 18-20. Stambo scored 285.75 points to win the 1-meter competition, with a 309.55 score in prelims a career best. Stambo added another NCAA Zone score of 264.30 points to win in platform diving.
