The Mustangs compete in a pair of dual meets this week, first hosting the Texas A&M Aggies Thursday at 5 p.m., before traveling to face Rice on Saturday at 4 p.m. The meet with Rice will be held at Lamar High School.
Thursday’s home meet with the Aggies will stream live on PonyUp TV and offer results on SMUMustangs.com, Meet Mobile ($) and DiveMeets, while fans can follow Saturday’s event with live updates on the Mustangs’ Twitter account (SMUSwimmingW).
Last Time Out
SMU last competed as a team in NCAA competition Nov. 21-23 when it hosted the SMU Invitational and came away with a second-place finish out of seven competing institutions. Erin Trahan (200 fly) added another NCAA B cut to the 100 fly time already on her resume, while Gabi Grobler (200 IM) and Felicia Anderson (100 back) produced their first B standard times of the season. All four SMU divers also registered at least one NCAA Zone diving score at the event.
Anderson, Grobler and Trahan, along with Olivia Grossklaus went on to represent the Mustangs at the Toyota U.S. Open Championships in Atlanta Dec. 4-7, before SMU competed two days at the Elite Pro-Am in Lewisville.
Diving Success
The Mustang divers are coming off action at the three-day Tennessee Diving Invite (Jan. 3-5) and will only compete in the dual meet against the Aggies this week as Rice does not sponsor diving. All four of SMU’s divers have at least one NCAA Zone qualifying score this season, with three of the four Mustangs reaching the standard in two of three events.
Katie Crown (1 meter, 3 meter), Taylor Ohlhauser (1 meter, 3 meter) and Johanna Holloway (3 meter, platform) each have a pair of Zone scores, while Nicole Stambo, who has dominated 1 meter for the Mustangs this season, has reached the standard in that event.
The NCAA Zone D Diving Championships will take place March 9-11 at SMU’s home facility.
