The Saint Louis swimming and diving teams participated in two meets over the weekend, competing at the Show-Me Showdown Friday, Sept. 29, and at the Butler Duals Sunday, Oct. 1.
Show-Me Showdown
The SLU women finished third among seven teams, the Billikens’ highest finish ever at the meet held in Columbia, Missouri. In the men’s competition, Saint Louis placed fifth among eight teams.
Mina Glenesk led the women’s team, finishing fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:06.67) and eighth in the 200 freestyle (1:54.59). Elaine Mahon placed eighth in the 100 freestyle (53.58). Glenesk and Mahon joined Mary First and Maggie Sheean for a runner-up showing in the 200 freestyle relay (1:37.82).
Ryan McCoy was the Bills’ top swimmer on the men’s side. McCoy captured fourth place in the 200 freestyle (1:42.41) and sixth place in the 100 butterfly (50.34). Isaiah Williams finished seventh in the 100 butterfly (50.61).
Butler Duals
Saint Louis defeated Butler, Indiana State, Evansville and Valparaiso in the women’s meet. On the men’s side, SLU collected victories vs. Evansville, Valparaiso and Xavier.
Glenesk won three events, touching first in the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 1,000 freestyle.
Billiken winners in men’s competition were Williams in the 400 IM and 200 butterfly, McCoy in the 500 freestyle and T.J. Halliburton in the 200 backstroke.
Up next for Saint Louis is a dual meet at Washington University Friday, Oct. 6.
