RUSADA Meeting Notes Indicate Shakeup in Leadership

Notes from the most recent meeting of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) indicate that new leadership is on it’s way. The organization has been under the spotlight since WADA declared the organization non-compliant last month.

As we noted last week, General Director Ramil Khabriev will step down. In his statement (entirely in Russian and is a picture of a document so you will have no luck with Google translate), he did not address the controversy surrounding RUSADA.

Instead, Khabriev cited a new paragraph in the organization’s rules that stated the director could not also hold a position outside of RUSADA. Khabriev also works in Russia’s National Institute of Health.

With corruption at the core of the allegations made in the WADA report, the organization has cleared itself of one glaring conflict of interest.

His replacement will be Anna Anzelovich. No information was provided about Anzelovich except that it seems that she is already a familiar face within RUSADA’s organization. Time will tell whether Anzelovich is up to the task of making a fresh start.

(Special thanks to Carl Mikael Lundin for providing Russian translation).
