PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams hosted Iona in dual meet action on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Taylor Natatorium in Providence, R.I. The women’s team earned a 197-101 victory, while the men’s team was defeated by the Gaels, 161-133.
The women’s team claimed a total of 12 first-place finishes on the day, winning the 200 SC Meter Medley Relay and 11 individual events. Annie Gathof led the way with three first-place finishes, while also swimming the first leg of the Medley Relay. Kendall Eby, Bella Lombard and diver Kaelyn Talisse each won two events on the day.
On the men’s side, Alex Beauchene was a multi-event winner, claiming first in the 200 SC Meter Free and the 100 SC Meter Freestyle. The Friar men’s team claimed five first-place finishes overall.

PROVIDENCE, RI – The Iona University Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Team completed their road trip to Massachusetts and Rhode Island Saturday, picking up a split at Providence College.
GAME SUMMARY
The Iona picked up their third win of the season against three losses defeating the Friars 161-133 to move to 3-2 on the season. The Iona women fell by a score of 197-101 to go to 3-3 on the season.
The Iona men picked up nine victories, including two each by Kieran Egan in the 100 and 200-Meter Backstrokes; Michael Faughnan in the 400 and 800-Meter Freestyle; Matthew Loftus in the 100m-Breaststroke and 200m-Individual Medley, and, Joel Picard who claimed the top spot in both 1-Meter springboard events. Sophomore Nick Patino added a win in the 200m-Breaststroke.
The Iona women managed three individual wins on the day with Junior Brennyn Veit winning the 200-Meter Breaststroke and 200-Meter Individual Medley events. Graduate student Megan Josephs won the 100-Meter Freestyle.

The two teams return to Hynes Pool next Saturday (Nov. 2) when they host Monmouth University.
