Northeastern Takes Down Undefeated Vermont 199-101 On Senior Day

The Northeastern swimming and diving team (6-2, 2-2 CAA) celebrated its senior class with a 199-101 victory over an undefeated Vermont team (5-1, 3-0 America East) on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies raced to 15 first place finishes of 16 total events.
 
The meet was highlighted by a number of new names on the score sheet. Sophomore Sophie Tallier scored her first points of the season with a fourth place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:20.22. Freshman Angela Gyurina also put her name on the score sheet for the first time, grabbing first place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.76. Gyurina is the third of nine rookies to notch a first place finish in an individual event this season.
 
The senior class went out with a bang, contributing five first place finishes, eleven top five finishes and 58 points. Additionally, all-senior teams claimed second in both the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay.
 
Senior captain Delaney Lanker swept the butterfly events, clocking 58.90 and 2:07.72 in the 100 and 200 respectively. Fellow captain Jordan Domeier tabbed her first top finish of the season in the 400 IM, touching the pad at 4:42.43.
 
On the diving boards, Alyssa Seales was again a standout performer for the Huskies. Seales set a new season high on the 3-meter board with a score of 275.85 en route to taking first in both events. Joined by teammates Jacquelyn Gover and Caroline Gonsalves, the trio claimed the top three spots in the one and three meter boards.
 
The Huskies will compete again next weekend at Central Connecticut State University. The contest is set to begin at 12 p.m. at Jack Suydam Natatorium.
