Junior Nats Qualifier Kristian Hansen Commits to Minnesota

The Minnesota men have added another member to ther recruiting class for this season, with Kristian Hansen signing his national letter of intent to join the Gophers in Fall 2017. Hansen will make the move to Minnesota from Hanover, New Hampshire, where he currently attends Hanover High School. His club training base is with the Upper Valley Aquatic Clubs, and his primary focus is on the distance freestyle events.

Hansen’s Top Times:

  • 200 free- 1:43.96
  • 500 free- 4:33.58
  • 1000 free- 9:26.64
  • 1650 free- 15:44.68

During the high school season last year, he represented Hanover in the 200 free and 500 free at the New Hampshire Division 2 State Championships. He was a state champion in both races, clocking a 1:45.46 in the 200 free and a 4:39.47 in the 500 free. In the long course pool, he qualified to swim the 400, 800, and 1500 meter freestyles at Speedo Summer Junior Nationals. He was also a 2-time champion in the distance freestyles at the Speedo Championship Series in Buffalo. At that meet, he swam to gold in the 400 meter free and 800 meter free.

Great person. Good pick up for the Golden Gophers. Loads of potential. It will be fun to see him further develop at U of Minnesota.
