The Center Grove Aquatic Club (CGAC) seeks applications for our 11-14 Head Age Group Coach / Assistant Senior Coach position. Terms and Responsibilities

• In collaboration with the Head FUNdamental Coach, oversee and directly supervise all scheduled age group practices, age group meets and age group team activities 
• Be available for meetings with the CGAC Board of Directors and CGAC coaching staff.
• Maintain and promote a positive culture within the CGAC organization
• Maintain a high level of speech, dress, and behavior that would be generally required in any business setting
• Report to location at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled session and stay until all swimmers have been picked up by parent guardian, all clean-up has been completed, and/or all work has been completed.
• Maintain office hours and/or indicate how/when to be contacted
• Maintain all coaching credentials in compliance with USA Swimming as well as complete the ASCA Level 1-4 Schools within the schedule determined by Head Coach

• Ensure that CGAC follows and is in compliance with all USA Swimming and Indiana Swimming regulations as well as the CGAC bylaws.

Specific duties of the Head 11-14 Age Group Coach/Assistant Senior Coach

• Oversee the entire CGAC 11-14 Age Group staff and programs; 
• Directly coach the top 11-14 age group (CHALLENGE 3/PERFORMANCE PATHWAY GROUP). This includes practices 6 days per week (with possibilities of some double days).
• Establish group seasonal plan, setting practice schedules, weekly training schedule and daily workouts for all 11-14 training groups that includes education of weekly technique and skill focus.
• Review coaching hours and approve payroll.
• Work with lead coach staff to plan and implement a cohesive skill development curriculum.
• In conjunction with lead coach staff, plan and implement appropriate staff education
• Work with lead coach staff to select a comprehensive meet schedule
• In conjunction with lead coach staff, conduct monthly staff meetings
• Assist the SENIOR DIVISION by directly coaching any training groups and/or practices  assigned by the Head Coach. This includes assisting with Senior level practices during the high school season.
• Collaborate with Head FUNdamental Coach to oversee all individual and team meet entries
• Conduct seasonal parent meeting for 11-14 training group
• Submit weekly communication specifically about the 11-14 age group as well as current happenings at the AGE GROUP level
• Coordinate seasonal registration/evaluations with lead coaches and CGAC Board of Directors/Registration committee
• Assist CGAC Board of Directors with budgeting, strategic planning, fee structure, communication, and any other board assigned responsibilities

Qualifications and Experience

• Preference will be given to Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• A minimum of 3 years competitive swim coaching experience, preferred Head Age Group Coach experience and ASCA Level 3 certification
• Competitive swim experience is required

Our team trains at the Giamonna Pool, a 11-lane, 25-yard short-course indoor aquatics facility located at Westmoor High School in Daly City, California. DCD hosts multiple competitions per year with the support of its family volunteers. The head coach must be dedicated to sustaining and strengthening our high-performance and comprehensive swim program by cultivating excellence in athletes in the pool and in their lives.

Head Coach Responsibilities

• Promotes and encourages a positive, progressive, inclusive, supportive, and winning culture while being a pervasive leader, serving as the Head Coach for the entire team.

As the Swim School Program Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of one of Southern California’s premier swim lesson programs. This position is primarily an on-deck leadership role, working closely with instructors during lesson hours to provide coaching, support, training, and oversight that ensures every swimmer receives safe, effective, and fun instruction.

What You’ll Do

Lead Instructional Excellence

• Ensure consistent implementation of the Mission Viejo Nadadores swim curriculum and teaching philosophy.
• Oversee swimmer evaluations, monitor progress, and guide appropriate advancement through the program.
• Supervise lessons from the deck to promote safety, efficiency, and a high-quality experience for swimmers and families.
• Observe instructor performance and provide regular coaching, support, and feedback.
• Coordinate monthly staff trainings and in-service meetings.
• Partner with Pre-Competitive staff to facilitate smooth transitions from Advanced Lessons into Pre-Comp programs.
• Occasionally provide in-water lesson coverage when needed.

Develop and Support Staff

• Build instructor schedules and coordinate staffing assignments for each session.
• Manage shift coverage and anticipate future staffing needs.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training new employees.
• Develop and implement performance evaluation processes for staff at all stages of employment.
• Create and maintain standardized onboarding and training programs for instructors, Deck Supervisors, and seasonal employees.
• Foster a positive team culture through recognition, mentorship, and professional development.

Oversee Programs and Operations

• Support seasonal league and off-site programs to ensure consistency and quality.
• Help develop new programming opportunities, including camps, clinics, adult programs, and special events.
• Maintain inventory and oversee swim school equipment and supplies.
• Ensure the swim school environment remains safe, organized, welcoming, and family-friendly.

Support Events and Administration

• Assist with annual planning and coordination of the swim school calendar and special events.
• Support swim meets, Free Trial Days, and other events through planning, setup, execution, and breakdown.
• Collaborate with office staff to provide exceptional customer service and operational support.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in swim instruction, coaching, aquatics, or related leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of stroke development, water safety, and swim instruction techniques.
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively lead, mentor, and develop staff.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Experience supervising employees in an aquatics, youth program, or customer service environment.
• Experience developing training programs and conducting staff evaluations.

Required Certifications

• CPR/AED Certification
• Safety Training for Swim Coaches
• APT Certification
• Ability to pass a background check

Training will be provided on internal software systems and operational procedures.

Schedule

This position is primarily an afternoon, evening, and weekend role, aligned with swim lesson programming. Flexibility is required to support seasonal programming, staff trainings, special events, and operational needs.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, talk, and hear for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and wet environments.
• Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to observe swimmers and staff with strong visual awareness, including distance and peripheral vision.

Team New York Aquatics (TNYA) is New York City’s largest masters swim team and the largest LGBTQ+-inclusive swim club in the United States. 

We are looking for energetic, experienced coaches to lead adult swim practices for masters swimmers on a weekly basis at our Borough of Manhattan Community College (Tribeca) location on Sundays at 1pm-1.30pm, Mondays 7pm-8.30pm, and Wednesdays 7pm-8.30pm. 

TNYA is more than a swim team — it’s a community. Our athletes range from first-time adult swimmers to nationally competitive masters athletes, creating a unique environment where personal growth, inclusion, and performance all have a place. If you enjoy coaching adults, building community, and helping swimmers achieve their goals, you’ll fit right in.

Coaches are paid $30 hourly (plus one free TNYA practice per practice coached) and will be scheduled to coach one practice a week, with time to be mutually agreed between coach and TNYA.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• 1+ years of swim coaching experience;
