Job Type: This position is initially offered as part-time, with the potential for full-time status based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. For highly qualified candidates, full-time may be available from the outset.
Pay: $15-$23 per hour (based on experience and qualifications); if full-time is offered, starting salary of $46,000 annually
We are seeking dedicated and passionate Assistant Coaches to join our team. As a coach, you will work with swimmers ranging in age from 6 to 18 years, guiding them through both developmental and competitive swim programs. You will have the opportunity to mentor young athletes, helping them develop their skills, improve their technique, and reach their goals in a fun and motivating environment.
Responsibilities
- Coaching & Instruction: Lead practice groups, teaching swimmers of varying abilities from beginner to advanced, depending on coaching placement.
- Skill Demonstration: Provide clear, detailed demonstrations of swimming techniques and strokes.
- Meet Attendance: Attend in-person swim meets to support athletes and track their progress.
- Administration: Track swimmer progress, upload practices, and take attendance using the team’s administrative platform.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in regular staff meetings to discuss team goals, swimmer progress, and coaching strategies.
- Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents and other coaches regarding practice schedules, swimmer progress, and swimmer conduct during practice.
Qualifications
- Experience & Knowledge: Strong understanding of competitive swimming techniques, rules, and training methods. 1-3 years of prior age-group coaching experience required.
- Positive Attitude: Enthusiastic and supportive attitude towards athletes, fostering an environment of growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Dependability: Consistent attendance and punctuality are critical.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certifications: CPR, First Aid, Water Safety, and background check required prior to hire.
Schedule
- 1-4 hour shifts (evenings, after school, and weekend availability).
- Minimum of 10 hours per week, up to 25 hours depending on availability.
- Full-time is 40-50 hours/week, if applicable
