Position: Head Water Polo & Assistant Swim Coach

The successful candidate will need:

• To be authorized to work in the United States.
• A strong background in swimming
  • Also, it helps if you are a morning person since you will be the lead coach for our 1st Period training group which practices from 5:45-7:15am.
• At least a strong interest in coaching water polo
  • Water polo is very new in Texas. It was adopted by UIL (the state governing body for athletics in the state of Texas) as an official sport in 2022.
  • Dulles was blessed to have an assistant swim coach at the time who played water polo at USC, and she served as our inaugural head water polo coach.
  • Our most immediate past head water polo/assistant swim coach had no previous experience in water polo but did great things with our team just by combining a strong interest with talent and competitive drive.
• To be (or be able to become) certified to teach in the State of Texas.
  • In Texas, all high school coaches must also be full time employees of the district, per the state governing body (UIL.) This usually means
  • If you hold a bachelor’s degree and are not currently certified to teach in Texas, these are some alternative certification programs you might want to look into:
    • Texas Teachers of Tomorrow
    • iTeach
  • Current known teaching vacancies (there may be more coming, and the current known vacancies may also become filled; it’s a dynamic process):
    • Professional Communications (Curriculum Example)
    • World History (Texas Certification: Social Studies Composite)
    • U.S. History (Texas Certification: Social Studies Composite)
    • There are also usually Special Ed positions that come available each year.

Salary Range: $68,790-$75,015+ (depending on years of creditable teaching experience.)

• Fort Bend ISD starting salary for those with zero years of teaching experience is $63,515.
  • The maximum salary range listed on this job posting is for a candidate who maxes out the Fort Bend ISD teaching experience salary scale at 40 years of teaching experience ($92,000) and who possesses a Ph.D. ($2,200 stipend.)
• Head Water Polo Coach Stipend (with a Commercial Drivers License to drive the bus) = $3,500 (without a CDL = $3,000)
• Assistant Swim Coach Stipend (also with a CDL) = $3,500 (without a CDL = $2,275)
• There is also a possibility that you could become the assistant golf coach, if so desired (but not required.) The aquatics position is for 1st period which trains from 5:45-7:15am while golf is 7th period (with minimal after school duties.) The assistant golf coach stipend (with a CDL) = $4,500 (without a CDL = $2,925)

Special Note regarding the 2026-2027 Season:

• Dulles High School is moving down to Conference 5A from Conference 6A due to a combination of our enrollment declining ever so slightly and UIL increasing the lower threshold enrollment required to qualify for Conference 6A.
• Dulles is very excited about becoming one of the largest 5A schools in the state after being one of the smallest Conference 6A schools for many years (competing against schools with enrollments that are almost double ours.)
• We are expecting to be very competitive on the state level in boys swimming, in particular, next season, and we are looking for a candidate who can help us maximize our potential and make the most of this opportunity.

Supplemental Income Opportunities:

• The Dulles High School head coach also coaches a summer recreational swim team, the Houston Orcas, and coaches at LifeTime Fitness. Those interested would be welcome to join the Orcas coaching staff and can be provided with a recommendation to the LifeTime Fitness aquatics leadership, also.
