The Lead Coach is a key leader within Blue Tide Aquatics, responsible for developing athletes through intentional coaching, disciplined training, and meaningful relationships. Working alongside the Head Coach, this position helps implement the club’s long-term athlete development model while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. The Lead Coach serves as a role model for athletes, assistant coaches, and families, helping advance Blue Tide Aquatics’ mission of developing confident, resilient swimmers who excel in and out of the pool.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead high-quality daily practices aligned with Blue Tide Aquatics’ coaching philosophy and long-term athlete development model.
- Develop seasonal training plans and provide individualized instruction that maximizes each athlete’s potential.
- Create a positive, disciplined, and challenging environment that promotes accountability, resilience, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Lead assigned training groups while mentoring assistant coaches and promoting consistency across the coaching staff.
- Attend and coach assigned competitions, making informed decisions regarding meet entries, race strategy, athlete readiness, and relay selection.
- Maintain professional, proactive communication with athletes, families, and staff while supporting a positive club culture.
- Assist with practice administration, athlete evaluations, club events, recruitment initiatives, and other operational responsibilities as assigned.
- Pursue ongoing professional development and remain current with USA Swimming best practices, coaching methodology, and athlete development.
Qualifications
- USA Swimming Coach in good standing (or ability to obtain certification prior to employment).
- Current CPR, First Aid, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, and Athlete Protection Training certifications.
- Experience coaching competitive swimmers with strong technical knowledge of stroke mechanics, training methodology, and race strategy.
- Three years of Club or High School coaching experience preferred. ASCA level 2 preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Commitment to the mission, values, and performance culture of Blue Tide Aquatics.
