General Summary:

The General Manager of First Colony Swim Team will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, financial management, and administrative functions of the team.  This role will collaborate closely with the Head Coach to ensure the seamless functioning of the team and the achievement of its goals.  The General Manager will report directly to the Board of Directors and play a vital role in driving the team’s success.  In short, the GM will oversee the “dry side” and the HC will oversee the “wet side”.

Partners with: Head Coach

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of FCST, ensuring smooth coordination and communication among staff, athletes, and parents.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee operational policies and procedures that align with the team’s mission and objectives.
  • Lead financial management, including budget creation, expense tracking, and financial reporting to the Board of Directors.
  • Handle administrative tasks, such as registration, meet entries, team communications, and coordination of travel logistics.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach to support the team’s strategic planning, goal setting, and athlete development initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to provide regular updates on team performance, financial status, and any pertinent issues.
  • Serve as a point of contact for parents, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a professional and timely manner.
  • Manage relationships with external partners, sponsors, and vendors to enhance the team’s resources and opportunities.
  • Coordinate facility rentals, equipment procurement, and other logistical needs to ensure effective team operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of team memberships, attendance, and performance metrics.
  • Support the execution of marketing and outreach efforts to attract new members and promote the team’s activities.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sports management, business administration, or a related field
  • Proven experience in managing sports teams or related organizations, including operations, finance, and administration.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and reporting
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with coaches, athletes, parents, and Board of Directors
  • Knowledge of competitive swimming and the swimming community
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for administrative tasks
