Job Summary:

Responsibilities:

  • Travel to clients’ homes, community centers, or other private pools to conduct swim lessons.

  • Provide safe, engaging, and effective swim instruction using proven teaching techniques.
  • Maintain constant supervision of swimmers to ensure a safe learning environment.

Essential Functions

1. Assist recruiting for the men’s and women’s swimming and diving program, identifying and evaluating potential student-athletes and organizing their recruitment in conjunction with the Office of Admissions to meet recruitment and retention goals. Assist in year-round directive for retention, ensuring a safe environment for current and future student-athletes. Assist the head coach in scholarship budgeting for prospective and current student-athletes. Speak with and guide families regarding college application, financial aid application, and academic program application processes to provide the best possible outcome.

 

2. Assist administration of intercollegiate athletic program in compliance with the University, NCAA, and Conference rules and regulations as required. Follow provided online educational resources to ensure compliance as an NCAA coach. Pass modules the NCAA allocates annually to ensure proper education on new legislation is current.

3. Assist in practice preparation, on-deck coaching, and planning physical conditioning. Direct small and large group practice. Implement periodization model for practical use in a modern swimming and diving program at the collegiate level. Assist strength and conditioning coaching staff, athletic training staff, among others in providing safe practices to reduce and prevent injury.

 

4. Consult with student-athletes regarding discipline, academic progress, and personal growth. Meet individually with student-athletes to provide proper guidance for mental health needs. Prepare correspondence with outside organizations who provide additional learning for student-athletes. Design and implement individualized academic programming for student-athlete well-being and academic success.

 

5. Assist management and administration of all pool usage including scheduling for internal and external events/offices. Maintain daily facility calendar for pool usage by Varsity program at the University, as well as outside groups such as local high school and swim club teams. Learn and educate others on the use of new tools with computer software/hardware for swim meet management, while providing training for additional swim meet managers for internal and external use of Colorado Timing System.

 

6. Assist with organization and scheduling, of all aspects of the Oiler Swim School program, including but not limited to develop and maintain a business plan to allow for maximum fundraising and all marketing aspects of the team. Direct and assist in correspondence with participant families regarding scheduling, instruction level, and facility instruction.

 

7. Follow local guidelines on emergency action reports, enacting new protocols when requested by department officials.

 

8. Represent the University in a positive manner and heighten the awareness of the institution to all of its constituents. Participate in on-campus events at the request of the Head Coach and Athletic Director.
