General Description/Position Purpose
This is a part-time position with .25 FTE stipend $8,125.00
Report to the head coach and responsible for specific assignments designated by the head coach.
Adhere to all rules and regulations mandated by Shippensburg University, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
Attend practices and competitions.
Instruct student-athletes in the fundamentals of the sport.
Develop, recommend, and administer specific student-athlete training/conditioning program and skill development.
Determine individual student-athlete strengths/abilities and recommend student-athlete utilization.
Evaluate student-athlete team progress and performance according to stated objectives and recommend changes as indicated.
Monitor student-athlete academic performance and implement appropriate measures in support of their academic performance with emphasis on retention and graduation.

Annually, successfully complete the NCAA recruiting exam and First Aid and Safety and CPR certifications.

Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have one year of coaching experience (or the equivalent) as well as demonstrated skills in developing and motivating student-athletes for athletic, academic and personal success. The Wilton YMCA Wahoos Age Group Coach works directly with the Director of Wahoos Swim Team and Wahoos coaching staff to lead the 11/12 Maroon and Gold practice squads. PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide coaching for year round USA swim team and oversight to all the swim teams and stroke schools
Present on deck during all team practices
Coaches upper level athletes and provides specific and corrective feedback to each athlete at each session
Design and deliver effective, consistent, and rewarding sessions and workouts
Integrate new swimmers into swim team and stroke school programs
Provide feedback to help parents decide which program is best for their child and client retention
Maintain accurate, current records on all clients’ progress
Follow swim school progression guidelines
Conduct regular staff meeting with other coaches
Enforce all pool rules and aquatics center and club policies
Plan, organize and run swim meets, including submitting entries in a timely manner
Maintain a consistent work schedule; arrive punctually for sessions
Provide excellent communication with the parents of swimmers as well as all members and staff
Track attendance of client’s sessions
Accurately enter and maintain consistent timely records in the required systems for hours worked and sessions
Actively participate in events, programs meetings and trainings
Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the aquatics center
Represent the club in a professional manner through image, dress, communication, and immediate follow through and response
May submit billing and accounting for swimmers and program participants
Order and distribute uniforms and required gear for staff
Assist with special club projects, events and promotions

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, & EDUCATION
Current Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid – for adult, infant, toddlers
Current USA Swim Coach Certified
Understand the current best practices in learn-to-swim skills, competitive swim techniques and childhood development
Experience teaching Swim Lessons for all ages
Experience in Competitive Swimming as a participant or a coach
ASCA III preferred
Knowledge of Pool Maintenance/Certified Pool Operator preferred
Ability to teach Lifeguarding/First Aid/AED/CPR preferred
Sales and Marketing — Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, and sales techniques.
Problem Anticipation/ Deductive Reasoning — Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and then apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems and considers the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Oral Comprehension and Expression —Ability to understand and communicate so others can understand ideas and information.
Computer – Ability to develop and maintain computer records in Word, Excel and other software required by TBCC.
Demonstrated ability to support and develop diverse environment.
At least two (2) years’ experience in personnel supervision, training, and evaluation.
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as WORD, EXCEL, and OUTLOOK are essential.

The Piedmont Swim Team is looking for an energetic team player who loves to coach youth athletes and is motivated to help advance our swimmers and program to the next level. This position reports to the Head Coach of Piedmont Swim Team, who is responsible for the daily operations of the Club.
Employment Status:
Full-time: Work hours vary between the hours of 5:30-7:30 a.m. and 3:30-7:15 p.m. on weekdays, plus 8:15 a.m. -12:15 p.m. on Saturday and 7:45-11:15 a.m. on Sunday, and generally monthly weekend swim meets on both Saturday and Sunday.
Essential Functions:
Assist Head Coach, Head Age Group Coach and Head Developmental Coach in planning, development and implementation of a comprehensive competitive program aimed at athletes ages 18 and younger
Conduct about 20-26 hours per week of on-deck coaching
Conduct about 10-12 hours per week of coaching preparation, staff meetings, parent meetings, and administrative work
Support the swimmers and coaches at swim meets
Maintain up-to-date performance reports on age-group athletes
Track attendance of athletes daily
Incorporate goal setting into practice sessions
Implement and assist in developing season plans and macro and micro plans
Perform seasonal and yearly evaluations of swimmers
Responds promptly to parent / guardian emails regarding their comments, concerns or observations about their swimmer
Inform and seek guidance from the Head Coach regarding any parent concerns that have the potential of escalation
Assist Head Coach and the entire PST coaching staff in planning the meet schedule
Attend all scheduled swim meets, meetings, and team functions as required
Participate in mandatory continuing education and in-service training as required
Cover practices for other PST coaches as needed
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Head Age Group Coach, and Head Developmental Coach to aid in the efficient and safe operation of Piedmont Swim Team practices

Current technical, training and motivational philosophies in swimming
First Aid, CPR, AED, and other lifesaving techniques
Competitive swimming and coaching at all age groups and senior levels
Teaching stroke mechanics

Skills:
Demonstrates exceptional skill in the application of positive, consistent, and effective motivational strategies when working with swimmers, parents, and other coaching staff in relation to all aspects of the program
Demonstrates strong organizational skills and experience in management and/or oversight of swim team and Swim School operations, including scheduling, billing, meet entries, registrations, on-site protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies
Demonstrates extensive knowledge of and ability to administer or use first aid, CPR, AED, and other lifesaving techniques
Ability to:
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, and successfully interact with athletes of all ages/abilities, families, staff, administrators and the PST Board
Demonstrate mature judgment, reliability, availability, and ethical behavior including punctuality, confidentiality, positive and constructive feedback, and ability to function in a multi-task environment
Work effectively with staff and swimmers at all levels, displaying a positive attitude, demonstrating presence and self-confidence, and exhibiting motivation and drive

Demonstrate enthusiasm for continuing coaching education
Complete tasks on time as required
Maintain clear professional boundaries with swimmers and families and adhere to the American Swimming Coaches Association Code of Ethics, the USA Swimming Code of Conduct, and all SafeSport, USA Swimming, and team policies regarding athlete safety and protection
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: HS or GED degree, bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience: 4+ Years of experience coaching for a USA-Swimming team as a USA-Swimming certified coach, or coaching for a Collegiate Swim and Dive program or YMCA swim team
Certificates:
Coaching membership that is in good standing with USA Swimming
Has met all USA Swimming certification and coaching requirements (Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Athlete Protection, Concussion, Mandatory Reporting: Understanding Your Responsibility etc.)
Completed USA-Swimming’s ‘Welcome to USA Swimming’ course, completed or working towards completing USA-Swimming’s ADM Age Group Certification.
Must possess the following certifications from the Red Cross or other equivalent agency: lifeguard training, CPR, AED, and first aid
Must pass the following:
USA Swimming background check
LiveScan Fingerprinting check
Employment reference checks
Education verification
State motor vehicle report
Social media and internet checks
Must have legal rights to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements:
