Job Description:

Location: Kingwood, Houston, TX, USA

Blue Tide Aquatics has an opening for a positive, experienced, enthusiastic head coach for our year-round competitive swim team.  We are a non-profit, board-governed, coach charged swim team located in Kingwood, Texas operating out of the Humble ISD natatoriums. Blue Tide Aquatics goal is to compete at the highest state levels in our age group program and at a Regional/National level with our High School swimming program.



Duties of our Head Swim Coach include but are not limited to the following:

  • Development and oversight of the training program for all groups and levels
  • Develop, mentor, and supervise coaching staff
  • On deck coaching/training of our Senior group
  • Development of staff schedule for practices and meets
  • Attendance and leadership at swim meets
  • Establish and maintain regular and timely communications with swimmers, parents, coach and board members
  • Ability to work with and maintain professional relationships with staff, board members, and high school coaches
  • Must possess good problem-solving skills and have the capability to act rationally and calmly in all situations
  • Participate in team projects, planning and programs and support team activities
  • Serve as team representative with Gulf Swimming
  • Prepare and present monthly Coach’s Report at Board of Director’s meeting


The ideal candidate has

  • Minimum of 10 years coaching experience with a competitive swim team
  • An impeccable understanding of swim stroke mechanics
  • Experience supervising and mentoring a staff of 5-10 age group coaches
  • ASCA level 4 or 5 preferred, will consider strong candidates with ASCA level 3 with proven ability to coach swimmers to the National level
  • Personal experience in competitive swimming at the college, high school, and club level
  • Track record of swimmer retention and recruitment
  • Track record of swimmer development at the national level
  • Ability and desire to work with parents as a part of swimmer development
  • Experience organizing and hosting successful swim meets

Other Requirements

  • Must pass a background check with USA Swimming and complete the USA Swimming head coach requirements
  • Current CPR/Safety Training certification
  • Pass a Motor Vehicle Report Check
  • Provide a minimum of 3 references
  • Working knowledge of Team Unify and Hy-Tek systems as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office software (preferred)
