Georgia Davies on 50 Back Title: I was Hoping to go a Tiny Bit Faster

2017 BRITISH SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

On night 5 of the 2017 British Swimming Championships, Georgia Davies locked in another backstroke title. This time, Davies won gold in the 50 back, as she popped off a 27.69 to finish a half second ahead of silver madalist Kathleen Dawson (28.19). That gives her golds in both sprint backstroke races at this meet.

Davies’ winning time maker her the 6th fastest 50 bacstroker in the world this year. That bumps Canada’s Olympic medalist Kylie Masse, who put up a 27.71 at Canadian Nationals, down a spot to 7th.

Here’s a quote from her post-race interview:

“I’m really pleased with how this week has gone. One personal best in the 100 back and I was just off my personal best in the 50 back. I was hoping to go a tiny bit faster but I feel like all swimmers are quite greedy and want to be faster.”
