PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Collecting its third straight dual win, the Boston University men’s swimming & diving team rolled to a 183-108 victory at Providence on Saturday afternoon.

The Terriers won all but four events and had a 1-2 finish in nine total events with three 1-2-3 results.

Junior Kyle Falkstrom claimed a meet-high three individual wins, starting off in the 100 breast (1:04.25) and then leading a 1-2-3 BU finish in both the 200 breast (2:20.80) and 200 IM (2:09.68). On the diving front, freshman Lyde De Hooghe swept the 1 and 3-meter events with scores of 288.82 and 280.42, respectively.

Freshman Dolan Grisbaum started with a four-second victory in the 800 free at 8:27.99 and later followed up with a comfortable win in the 400 free at 4:05.89. He also added a second-place result in the 200 IM to help the Terriers’ efforts.

Sophomore Jackson Olin collected a pair of individual victories as well, posting a time of 58:05 in the 100 back before edging junior Jacob Lindner by .01 seconds in the 100 free at 52.86.

In the 200 free, graduate student Daniel Galante touched the wall first at 1:55.98 and later took second in the 400 free. Junior Sarsen Whatmore matched those efforts with a first-place finish in the 200 back (2:08.08) and runner-up result in the 800 free.

Senior Stuart Vickery led a 1-2-3 Terrier finish of his own in the 100 fly (57.06).

After two meets on the road, BU will next return home to host the three-day Terrier Invitational on Friday, Nov. 19 – Sunday, Nov. 21.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Posting the top result in all 16 events, the Boston University women’s swimming & diving team cruised to a 196-97 win at Providence on Saturday afternoon.

BU recorded a 1-2-3 result in five events, as four Terriers won multiple individual events with sophomore Madison Kim earning a team-high three first-place finishes.

Kim started the meet off teaming with sophomore Sydney Sorbello, freshman Stephanie Liu and senior Francesca Leung for a 1.24 second victory in the 200 medley relay at 2:00.58. She then later posted the top time in the 50 free (27.11), 100 free (59.27) and 200 IM (2:26.16).

Reigning Patriot League Diver of the Week and senior Emily Balicanta swept the 1 and 3-meter diving events with scores of 272.10 and 270.60, respectively, while sophomore Clarissa Hoyt won both the 100 breast (1:15.39) and 200 breast (2:42.70).

Freshman Ashley Scafetta also won a pair of events in the 400 free (4:31.26) and 800 free (9:17.67). Sophomore Blythe Brenner (200 free, 2:10.19), freshman Ella Erickson (200 fly, 2:24.90), freshman Alex Pastushan (100 back, 1:05.33), sophomore Lara Mitchell (200 back, 2:20.25) and freshman Keilah Eckhart (100 fly, 1:05.68) all reached the wall first in their respective races.

Sorbello, senior Isabella Garbacz, Leung and Brenner wrapped up the meet with the fastest time in the 200 free relay at 1:49.60, topping Providence by 1.37 seconds.

After two meets on the road, BU will next return home to host the three-day Terrier Invitational on Friday, Nov. 19 – Sunday, Nov. 21.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams competed against Boston University on Saturday, Nov. 6 at Taylor Natatorium in Providence, R.I. The women fell to the Terriers, 196-96 and the men were defeated 183-108.

On the men’s side, the Friars set three school records on the day in the 200-meter medley relay, 200-meter freestyle relay and the 50-meter freestyle. The 200-meter medley relay was comprised of McGovern BrownKevin HoodRyan Sharp and Will Layden. They teamed up to finish first in a time of 1:44.47. The previous school record was set during the 2020-21 season by Brown, Hood, Matthew Michaels and Brian Cantin (1:46.52).

In the 200-meter freestyle relay, the team of Brown, Cantin, Aidan Hughes and Layden claimed first place in a school-record time of 1:34.34. The previous record was set in 2020 by Hughes, Jack Armstrong, PK Brannigan and Cantin.

Layden earned the individual school record in the 50-meter freestyle, touching the wall ahead of the field in a time of 23.25. Brannigan set the previous record at Providence in the 50-free with a time of 23.88 in 2017. In today’s meet against Boston University, Cantin finished second, just behind Layden with a time of 23.65. His time also bested the previous school record.

Justin Viotto’s victory in the 200-meter butterfly (2:09.43) rounded out the list of first-place finishers for the men.

For the women, Tatum Burek posted a first-place finish in the 200-meter IM, with a time of 2:31.25. The Friars also swept the top two spots in the 200-meter freestyle relay. The winning team was comprised of Sally AlrutzTaylor LoudGrace Erickson and Jennifer Bankes (1:50.97). The Friars’ second place team featured Julia McCarthyElizabeth GormleyAbigail Tchoukaleff and Katherine Winklosky.
