MAN ON THE SCENE, RAFAEL DOMEYKO – RAFAELDOMEYKO.COM – CAPTUREDSWIMMING ELITES IN BOLZANO, ITALY.
FROM RAFAEL:
Early this morning, I wondered over to the competition pool and found no one in the water. However, within minutes a swimmer showed up. It was none other than Arkady Vyatchanin. In addition of taking advantage of being the only swimmer in the pool, he enjoyed seeing the mountains through the glass ceiling and walls.
Later in the day, coach David Marsh arrived with Katie Meili. He assembled his swimmers for a meeting and then they proceeded to the Girlan Winery. Afterwards, the team headed to the Realgymnasium Bozen School for swim practice. Several of the local age-groupers got to meet and swim with the US elite swimmers.
None of this would have been possible without the help of Admir Kajo Kajevic (aka Kajo). Kajo is Lisa Fissneider’s swim coach. A local product of Bolzano. In addition to transporting swimmers from the airport (approximately 3 hours away), Kajo drove the US swimmers from Genova to Bolzano. He also recruited several locals from Bolzano to drive swimmers to and from the swimming facilities. He has truly made all the difference.
Many thanks to Rafael Domeyko for these swimming photos.
