Matt Whittle
An athlete in the 2014 recruiting class, Matt Whittle is a multi-stroke swimmer at the University of California, Berkeley. Born Feb. 1,1996 in Woodland, Calif. Whittle didn’t look far to find the right college fit. When he got into his high school years he joined the Davis Aquadarts where he developed a knack for breaststroke, and he credits much of his success to coach, Billy Doughty. He could also be a threat in the IM events as well as sprint butterfly. Whittle’s father, Daron Whittle, also attended Cal graduating in 1988 with a major in Legal Studies. He chose to follow in his father’s footsteps by choosing to be a Golden Bear, but also to study Political Science – he claims that swimming for Cal is a dream of his. Whittle graduated from Davis High School where he was a High School All-American, and the 14th-ranked recruit in the class of 2014.
