Luiz Martinez

College (Auburn)

After a semester at Missouri S&T, Martinez transferred to Auburn, where he finished out his NCAA career for the next 7 semesters. During his time at Auburn, Martinez became a 3x NCAA All-American as a part of relays at the 2017 & 2018 NCAA championships. He left Auburn with best times in the 100 fly (45.72) and 200 fly (1:43.56).

International Competition

2016 Olympic Games (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

In Rio, Martinez swam the 100 fly, where he finished 19th (52.22) overall.

2017 World Championships (Budapest, Hungary)

Martinez competed at the 2017 World Champs, where he finished 18th in the 50 fly (23.71) and and 21st in the 100 fly (52.18). Both times were new Guatemalan records. He also finished 37th in the 200 fly (2:03.10).

2019 Pan American Games (Lima, Peru)

Martinez was the runner up in the 100 fly (51.63) after setting the Pan Am Games record and the Guatemalan national record in the prelims (51.44).

He also finished fourth in the B final of the 50 free (22.99).
