Brittany Friese:
Brittany, known by her teammates as Britt, was born in Passaic, New Jersey before living in Washingtonville, New York and later moving to Newburgh, New York. Britt swam for the Newburgh Sharks growing up, and then continued her career with them while swimming for her high school Newburgh Free Academy. During her high school career Britt was All-American in both the 200 and 500 Free, as well as being state champion in the 200 free her freshman and sophomore year. SHe was also state champion in the 500 free her freshman, sophomore and junior year – sharing the title with her now Blue Devil teammate Lindsay Schlichte her junior year. Britt continues to train for the 200 and 500 free at Duke, along with training for the 200 fly.
Club:
Back home, Britt competed for the Newburgh Sharks first under Mike and Becky Townsend, and then under Patrick Kavanagh.
College:
2013-2014:
Her freshman year at Duke, Britt competed at the ACC Championship meet in the 200 free, 500 free and 200 fly. She scored for the Blue devils in the 200 free and 200 fly, and was also a part of the Duke’s 800 free relay at ACCs that set the new team record.
Personal:
At Duke Britt is majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Global Health. She aspires to go to law school and be involved in health law.
