Air Force Resets Multiple Pool Records In Road Sweep of Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash., – Air Force blew past Seattle U, 208-54, and left their mark at the Redhawk Center on Friday January 16. The Falcons saw ten individual first place finishes and four broken facility records.

“It was a great night for our team, we raced tough and saw the results of our hard work over the last few weeks,” said head coach Colleen Murphy. “We are about four and a half weeks from conference and this team is poised for a great meet.”

The 200 medley relay team of Kai-Min TsueiNaomi FurmanAmber Martin, and Ryan Mills broke the Redhawk Center facility record with their first-place time of 1:42.48.

Abby Miller broke an individual pool record with her top finish in the 1000 free at 10:11.01. Katie Andrist (10:15.60) and Grace Nickell (10:22.36) rounded out the top three.

In the 200 free, Lily Larson (1:50.11), Mills (1:51.78), and Natalie Doig (1:53.16) went 1-2-3.

Larson also won the 500 free at 4:56.96, with Doig (5:04.18) in second, and Andrist (5:06.42) in third.

Brynn Bond collected a gold finish in the 100 back at 56.08, while Tsuei (56.43) and Sadie Hartig (57.35) finished in second and third, respectively.

In the 200 IM, Bond touched the wall at 2:04.20 for her second top finish of the night. Hanani Dona (2:05.86) and Elizabeth Sistrunk (2:06.62) completed the top three.

With her time of 1:02.16, Furman broke the Redhawk Center in the 100 breast for first place. Mandy Fleetwood (1:04.29) and Maeve Linscott (1:04.32) took the last two podium finishes.

Following her return from study abroad, Abigail Hardy placed first in the 200 fly after clocking a time of 2:03.55, with Jena Nowoswiat (2:03.67) and Dona (2:06.66) right behind.

Lily Bachl claimed first in the 50 free at 23.94 while Mills won the 100 free with her time of 51.11.

In the 200 back, Addy Forbes touched the wall at 2:01.33 for first, while Hartig trailed in second (2:02.18).

Senior, Linscott, picked up a win the 200 breast, scoring nine points for the Falcons with a time of 2:16.92. Teammates Furman (2:17.15) and Fleetwood (2:20.21) took second and third place.

Closing out the meet, the 400 free relay team, comprised of Mills, Bachl, Hannah Seal, Larson went 3;26.05 to break the final facility record of the night.

Murphy commented, “We had so many great swims tonight, but breaking pool records is always special.”

The Falcons will be back in action in a tri-meet against BYU and Colorado Mesa on Friday, January 2,3 in Provo, Utah.

SEATTLE, Wash., – The Falcons posted a strong 176-86 victory over Seattle U at the Redhawk Center on Friday, January 16. Air Force brought in 8 individual wins and a pair of relay wins, along with Tanner Wilson breaking two facility records.

“The guys swam well tonight,” said head coach Rob Clayton. “The win was highlighted by double winners Tyler SurrattJordan FallsJames Winterfield, and Tanner Wilson.”

The 200 medley relay team comprised of Dylan FergusonBridon RosalesTanner Wilson, and Jordan Falls opened the meet with a 1:30.38 win.

Tyler Surratt picked up a win in the 1000 free after clocking a time of 9:24.36. Tucker Rice (9:28.35) and Ralph Fiscus (9:41.00) followed in second and third, respectively.

Surratt also won the 500 free with a time of 4:31.79. Evan Witte (4:39.02) and Rice (4:40.53) helped to round out the top three.

With a time of 1:39.19, James Winterfield earned gold in the 200 free, with Matthew Doty (1:40.28) and Camden Swigart (1:40.55) behind.

Winterfield placed first again in the 100 fly at 49.40.

The pair of T. Wilson (54.11) and Rosales (55.42) took the top two spots in the 200 breast to score for Air Force.

T. Wilson also earned gold in the 200 breast at 1:58.63, while Brandon Cho (2:00.55) took the runner-up placement.

At 45.21, Falls won the 100 free with Christ (45.54) and Winterfield (46.19) rounding out the podium finishers.

Team captain Danny Detjen placed second, highest for Air Force, in the 200 fly with a time of 1:50.02.

Sprinter, Falls, clocked a 20.70 time in the 50 free for second place, while Joe Christ (20.71) finished behind in third.

Freshman Doty placed first in the 200 IM, touching the wall at 1:49.27, with Swigart (1:51.04) right behind in second.

For second place in the 200 back, Louie Body swam a 1:48.56 to score four points. Ferguson (1:49.64) and Garrett Kennedy (1:50.99) went for third and fourth place.

The highest Falcon finisher in the 100 back was Dylan Ferguson in third at 50.58.

To close the win, the 400 free relay, swam by Winterfield, Christ, Surratt, and Swigart scored 11 points in first place at 3:02.18.

“Wilson’s two pool records in his hometown fans set the tone for the Falcons. I am very pleased with our progress from a week ago,” expressed Clayton.

The Falcons will be back in action on Friday January 23 against BYU and Colorado Mesa in Provo, Utah.

SEATTLE, WA – Seattle U men’s and women’s swimming concluded their home schedule for the season, as both fell to Air Force on senior day.

The Redhawks took home 1st place in five events on the day, with Danielis having two of them in the 100 and 200 Back (49.87/1:47.36). Other Redhawks to take 1st in an event were Keanu Lee in the 200 Fly (1:48.44), Hawkins Wendt in the 50 Free (20.48), and Amanda Miller in the 100 Fly (55.96).

FULL RESULTS

The final scores saw the men fall 86-176 and the women drop a 54-208 battle. Seattle U will have just under a month off before competing in their first BigWest Championships starting Wednesday, February 11th, in Houston, TX.
