Gretchen Walsh Breaks Huske’s US Open Meet And Sjostrom’s Pool Record With 55.60 100 Fly

Gretchen Walsh broke the US Open Meet record and Texas Pool record en route to a win to kick off Friday’s night in Austin, Texas as she touched in a 55.60. She broke the previous Meet record of a 56.21 set by Torri Huske back in 2023 as well as the pool record of a 56.38 previously held by Sarah Sjostrom.

Walsh was out faster than both Huske and Sjostrom were in their old records. Sjostrom’s record had stood since 2016.

With her swim tonight, Walsh now holds nine of the top 14 swims of all-time, including the eight fastest. Walsh first broke the World Record at 2024 US Olympic Trials with a 55.18. That broke the previous record held by Sjostrom. In May 2025, Walsh lowered her own record swimming to a 54.60 at the Pro Series stop in Fort Lauderdale. She still remains the only swimmer to have gone sub-55.
