Nowacki has been having an exceptional week, breaking the British Age-Group record in the 50 breaststroke twice, and he followed up that performance with a massive swim in the 200 breast semifinal to break the previous record of 2:09.64.
Nowacki was out fast in 29.43, setting the stage for the way the rest of the event would go. Two other swimmers in his heat were also under 30 seconds on the first 50, but they faded fast while Nowacki maintained a strong pace.
He was 32.64 on the 2nd 50 and 33.29 on the 3rd 50, both of which were faster than any other swimmer in the field, including both heats. His final 50 of 33.75 was also the fastest of the field, and one of just two splits under 34 seconds.
His 2:09.64 was also a new Championship Record of 2:10.69 set by Anton Chupkov in 2015, and it was a new British Age Group Record, breaking his own record of 2:10.53 from the end of May.
He will swim the event final tomorrow at approximately 6:15 pm local time. He also has the 100 breaststroke which will swim prelims and semifinals on Saturday and finals on Sunday.

i believe the European record now belongs to Marchand as a 2:05
This kid is a dream to watch. Unbelievable stroke mechanics!
Just caught up and watched his swim and the way he interacts with the water is a joy to witness, those hips would be surfing if they were any higher. Congratulations to Filip and his coaches.
