Are you serious posting slave labour wages. Is this a joke 🤣🤣🤣🤣 or what? These wages represent maybe 🤔🤔🤔🤔 1/2 weeks of living in NYC or London or Paris or Rome. It is a joke 🤣🤣🤣🤣 period. The blame is squarely with USA Swimming and FINA or what is there new name? The CEO of USA Swimming makes more than this stats you have presented in 3/6 months. I guarantee you that. The athletes need to UNITE for better prize 🏆🏆🏆 money 💰💰💰💰 in the Olympics and World Championships, etc. Swimming is no longer a fringe sport. The USA Olympics Swimming Trials in Indianapolis proved that there is a market out there. It is now time to act professional and… Read more »
I agree with what you say in general.
Just a couple of things, this is not a wage or salary, it is prize money from a swim organization in southern Europe that has not increased their payouts for 1st, 2nd, 3rd in decades. They have nothing to do with USA Swimming or FINA other than running a meet under a NF that falls under FINA rules.

Same as posted below by Whodunthat, a few swimmers do have their travel and accommodations paid for.
I wonder if someone from the other side of the Atlantic, like Kharun, can break even. Or do they get an appearance fee, like at the China Open? Or at least get the flight and accomodations paid for?
If Kharun earned around $11,800 I’d think that would be enough to cover expenses for the week? NCAA rules say he can use prize money to offset travel expenses.
With maybe an exception here or there, no appearance fee but yes they take care of travel and hotel for the studs
Did not look at the money breakdown for Barcelona, but didn’t Steenbergen break the Barcelona record for the Women’s 100 Free?
Yep! There were a few people who broke Barcelona records, but that was the only event Steenbergen earned prize money in. €350 for winning 100 free + €300 for Barcelona record + €600 for top AQUA points = €1250
These are plain and simple slave labour wages period.
You might be right but supply and demand. If there was a market for the sport, they would get more money! 10 days in Europe is not a bad gig!
“slave labour wages” bruh needs to open a history book.
