Serbian swimmer Iva Martinovic will be making her across the Atlantic to swim for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay beginning in the fall of 2026.

Originally from Belgrade, Martinovic currently trains with Plivacki klub 11 April Beograd (Swimming Club 11 April Belgrade), where she primarily specializes in free, back and fly.
Martinovic posted a handful of strong performances at the 2025 Russian Championships (SCM) in November. She contested the 50 free (27.09 – SB), 100 free (59.23 – SB), 50 back (30.28 – SB), 100 back (1:07.10 – PB), 50 fly (28.18) and 100 fly (1:03.41).
A few weeks later, Martinovic logged a series of personal best times at the 2025 Serbian Winter Individual and Team Championships (SCM). She won the 50 back (30.94) and 100 fly (1:04.08) and took 2nd in the 100 free (58.92 – PB) and 100 IM (1:06.10 – PB), 3rd in the 50 fly (28.11 – SB) and 7th in the 50 free (26.77 – PB).
Martinovic turned in another series of strong swims at the 2026 Serbian Open Championships (LCM) in March, where she contested the 50 fly (28.53), 50 free (28.00) and 100 free (1:00.86), marking season-best times in each event.
Martinovic also holds a lifetime best time of 1:02.81 in the SCM 100 fly, which she set back in 2022 at the Serbian Winter National Championship.

A Division I Mid-Major program in the Horizon League, UW-Green Bay finished 6th out of seven teams at this past season’s conference championships. Based on the results from the 2026 Horizon League Championships and Martinovic’s projected converted times, Martinovic would have landed in the ‘A’ final in the 100 fly and the ‘B’ final in the 100 free, giving her a chance to score some points right from the start.
On the team itself, Martinovic is poised to be the Phoenix’s top competitor in the 100 fly, 50 free and 100 free this coming season, although that does not account for the other incoming freshmen.
Martinovic shared additional comments on her decision to attend UW-Green Bay.
“I chose UWGB because I know this is the place where I can truly challenge myself and grow,” Martinovic said. “Moving across the world to pursue both education and sport is not easy, but this opportunity offers the kind of environment where hard work is recognized and growth is constant. I wanted something that would challenge me, inspire me, and help me discover how much I am really capable of. UWGB gives me the opportunity to keep chasing my dreams, improve every day, and become not only a better swimmer, but a stronger and more confident person.”
The list of recruits set to join Martinovic in the pool in the fall includes Madeline Bichon (free/breast/IM) and Hannah Tubbs (free/breast/), who should both make for strong training partners over the next four years.
