During the Friday finals session of the 2026 European Junior Championships, Aissia-Claudia Prisecariu was disqualified in the girls’ 200 backstroke finals after earning the bronze medal. Following the meet, she seems to have been reinstated to the position.

The girls’ 200 backstroke had a tie for the gold medal between France’s Jeanne Lechevalier and Hungary’s Fanni Viktoria Kokas at 2:10.76.
Prisecariu was out in 4th overall, splitting 30.93 on the first 50 to turn 4th overall. She maintained that position on the next 50, splitting 33.25 to turn in 1:04.18 after the first 100.
She fell back to 5th at the 150 meter mark, splitting 33.85 to turn in 1:38.03. She sat four tenths behind Eva Rottink from the Netherlands, who turned in 1:37.63 for 4th.
On the final 50, Prisecariu had a monster 33.55 split to move into 3rd, passing Spain’s Sara Costa de Vicente (34.98) and Rottink (34.08).
Her initial disqualification showed Rottink in the bronze medal spot before it was overturned following the race, moving Rottink down to the 4th place position.
