Kostin earned the bronze medal in the 50 fly in a Russian national record time of 22.97. He finished behind Ukrainian Andriy Govorov (22.48) and Great Britain’s Ben Proud (22.78).

2019 World Championships (Gwangju, Korea)

Kostin earned a silver medal in the 50 fly, lowering his own Russian national record to 22.70, finishing behind American Caleb Dressel (22.35) and ahead of Brazilian Nicholas Santos (22.79).
