Nevada High School State Record Holder Owen Robertson Commits To BYU For 2026

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Nevada High School State Record Holder Owen Robertson has sent his commitment to Brigham Young University for the fall of 2026.

I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to Brigham Young University! I am so thankful for the coaches, teammates, family, and friends who have been by my side every step of the way. I am so grateful for the BYU coaching staff for having faith in me and making the dream come true. GO COUGS!!! 🤙🏻

Robertson swims for Las Vegas Swim Club and attends Palo Verde High School in Las Vegas. At the 2026 NIAA 5A State Championships, he won the 200 IM (1:50.84) and the 100 freestyle in a new state record time of 45.10. This swim broke Luke Hobson‘s 2021 State Record time of 45.22.

In February, Robertson swam at the Speedo Sectionals in Oceanside, where he swam 49.80 to finish 8th in the 100 back and 1:49.38 in the 200 backstroke prelims before he finished 8th in the final (1:51.48).

Robertson’s Best Times SCY

  • 100 free — 45.10
  • 200 free — 1:38.72
  • 100 back — 49.80
  • 200 back — 1:49.38

BYU is a Division I program in the Big 12. The men finished 5th at the 2026 Big 12 Championships with 843 points, about 90 less than TCU, who finished 4th with 934 points.

On last year’s team, Robertson’s times would have helped add depth to the Cougar roster. In the 100 free, he would have been 9th on the team. In the 200 free, his time would have been 8th. His 100 back would have been 10th and his 200 back 8th.

He will join BOTR recruit Jimmy Beeson along with Blake Madsen, Colin Eliason, Gavin Willyerd, Grayden Barker, Sam Weaver, and Tyler Burton on campus in the fall.

I don’t know where you’re thinking BYU’s backyard is, but there’s no high school kid in Utah going a 19. I think BYU are actually now getting all of the best recruits out of Utah since they all choose that school so they can immediately disappear for 2 years to go on a mission… you won’t find many other colleges being ok with that.
