“We faced a little adversity today, being down a few key people and DQ’ing the first relay,” head coach Josh Christensen said. “We did a good overall job bouncing back from that with some good racing overall. The 200 Free really got us on track and we had a solid meet from there.”

Webb picked up the first ISU win in the pool as the senior recorded her third consecutive win in the 200-yard freestyle event dating back to the Indiana State Tri-Meet. The Edwardsville, Ill. native dropped six-tenths of a second off her previous season best to post a time of 1:51.41 in topping IUPUI’s Emmaleigh Zietlow (1:51.76).

Rutan also continued her dominant stretch in the backstroke events as the sophomore swept through the field in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke events. The Roseville, Calif. native topped the field by nearly a full second in the 100-yard event with her time of 55.42 finishing ahead of IUPUI’s Lauren Thompson (56.40)  in the first event. The Sycamores continue preparations for the upcoming Missouri Valley Conference Championships (February 16-19, Iowa City, Iowa) and they will get a good look at one of their top rivals at tomorrow’s dual meet against Southern Illinois.

“We’ve got a few weeks until conference and we have some areas we need to improve and details to clean up,” Christensen said. “Tomorrow will be another opportunity to work on those things against a tough SIU squad.”
