While most of the country’s attention was on athletes competing at the Olympic Trials in Omaha last week, swimmers in California were competing in the short course pool at the Roseville Aquatics Complex. The meet featured, among other swimmers, Brandon Ha, who owns multiple top-100 all-time swims in the 11-12 age group.

Representing Dart Swimming, Ha, who recently turned 13, competed in the finals of six different events while racing against athlete as much as eight years his senior. Of the races that he swam in finals, his top finish came in the 200 fly, where he took 5th with a time of 1:56.11, his lifetime best in the race. He also picked up four other new lifetime best times, dropping time in the 100 free (49.14), 200 free (1:48.41), 200 back (2:03.38), and 100 fly (51.86).

Joining Ha in posting multiple lifetime bests at the meet was 2022 University of Arizona commit Hayden Ghufran, also of Dart Swimming. Finishing in the top-3 of all of his races and winning the 400 IM, 200 fly, and 500 free, Ghufran added three new best times across the meet, including one of his best events, the 200 fly. In the fly, he took over a second and a half off of his previous best of 1:48.17 to touch first in 1:46.63.

On the women’s side, one of the top performers was a third athlete from Dart, Charlotte Rosendale. The 16-year old won all four of the events that she competed in, sweeping the sprint freestyle events and also claiming the top spot in the 100 breast. Committed to the University of Alabama’s class of 2022, Rosendale was a finalist at the 2019 Junior Championships-West in the 50 free.
