Tonight, Egyptian 2012 and 2016 Olympian Farida Osman of Cal won her first-ever individual NCAA title, becoming the third-fastest swimmer in history in the 100 yard fly with 50.05.

Her swim tonight (24.04/26.01) also was the seventh-fastest performance in history. You can see the top seven performances below:

Osman dropped a third of a second from her personal best time to hit the mark. Her previous best was a 50.40 from Pac-12s.

Osman is a team co-captain for the Bears; she has won relay titles in the 200 free relay in 2016, the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay in 2015. She will swim the 100 freestyle tomorrow, where she comes in seeded seventh.

The swim was .32 seconds faster than the second-place finisher, fellow senior Hellen Moffitt out of UNC (50.37). USC’s Louise Hansson was third with 50.45.
