2016 Women’s Pac-12 Championships: Day 3 Up/Down

PAC-12 – WOMEN

We’re through the third morning of the 2016 Women’s Pac-12 Championships in Federal Way, and the team race is starting toa take shape.  The Stanford women have jumped into the lead with 557 points, but two of three diving events–where the Cardinal hold a big edge–have already been completed.  USC is less than 50 points behind with 512, and are likely to take the lead tonight behind a big morning session where they put 17 swimmers in top 16 (three more than the next best team).  The Cal Bears capitalized on their excellence in the 100 fly and 100 back to put 11 swimmers into individual A-finals tonight and keep themselves in the mix.

Meanwhile, there’s a nice race for fourth developing, as well, with Arizona looking to jump past UCLA tonight.

Full up/mid/down results (Pac-12’s scores to 24 places) are below, including estimated point totals for the day.  We understand that things change between morning and evening (some top swimmers hold back a bit, etc.), so to calculate estimates, we took the average number of points a finisher in an A, B, or C final will score.

Note: Ups refer to swimmers in the A final, who can finish no lower than 8th barring a DQ; Mids refer to swimmers in the B final, who can finish no higher than 9th and no lower than 16th (again, barring a DQ on the low end); and Downs refer to swimmers in the C final, who can finish no higher than 17th and no lower than 24th (again, barring a DQ on the low end)
