Watch the Sandpipers of Nevada go 1-2-3 in the women’s 1500 to open the meet. 17-year-old Katie Grimes led the way, swimming a 15:56.27, which comes in about 12 seconds off her personal best.

In the first men’s heat, Tunisia’s Ahmed Hafnaoui scared the 15-minute mark, hitting the wall first with a time of 15:00.24. He took nearly seven seconds off his lifetime best time, which he swam at the Knoxville Pro Swim Series just a few weeks ago.

Marwan El Kamash, who trains with Hafnaoui at Indiana University, came in second with a 15:01.26.
