There was no denying a total domination by Madison Homovich and Sinead Eksteen as they took absolute control of the race, breaking out from the rest of the field and eventually finishing in that order.

It was Homovich, who placed second in the 500 freestyle earlier in the meet, who ran away with it tonight to come first with a time of 9:42.80. Ekseen was a distant second but also under the 10 minute mark sporting a 9:55.75 for the silver.

Coming in third was Maggie Wallace who dropped a 10:14.40 to finish well behind the two leaders.

Ledecky was all alone in the race as expected with her closest competitor being her NCAP teammate, 16-year-old Megan Byrnes, who was a 9:47.72 for silver.

So in the 13-14 200 IM, Lasco was fifth with a 1:57.2 (unsure on decimal, though I know he was a tenth faster than the morning). He was the only one in that top five who did the 200 back, 100 free, 200 IM triple. Very impressive he still managed to drop a little and I assume PR from last season. Not saying he would have been near Whitley at all if he had been fresh, but he would have been faster.

Vinny Marciano was also active this weekendbut it was a little hard to tell how much rest he had. He posted a 21.78(8?) In his 50 (PR by a tenth), 47.43 in his 100 (PR bya few tenths)… Read more »

Well said.
As a big Lasco fan, I agree about your time predictions for next March when he’s traditionnaly fully tapered. Sub 50 and 1.50 on backstroke plus sub 1.40 in the 200 free. Wow, sub 1.40 at 13, it would be amazing. Best time ever for a US 13-year-old boy is 1.40.06 by Maxime Rooney. It doesn’t seem out of reach. His freestyle looked really good this week. He can also swim close to the 4 minutes in the 400 IM. Needs a lot of breaststroke work but it’s possible. And then he will attack the NAG records in December 2015 and March 2016. It will be tough on backstroke with stunning Michael Andrew’s records. However, I see… Read more »
