After setting a National HS Record in the 50 free, State College’s Matthew Brownstead clipped his lifetime best in prelims of the 100 free with a 43.29.
Matt Brownstead went 19.5 in the 50 free last year and split 19.0 on a relay. He’ll chase an 18-second split while we get a rematch of 2019’s 200 IM thriller.
2019 Pennsylvania State champion Laura Goettler has committed to swim at Duquesne University. The incoming freshman will be the team’s top breaststroker.
On the opening day of the Cleveland Sectionals, Michigan swimmer and national team member Charlie Swanson posted the 10th-fastest US time in the 200 breast.
The 15-year old Matteson is primarily a breaststroker; but in his first individual final of the meet, he won the 200 fly in a new lifetime best.
Madelyn Donohoe picked up two wins to match her win in the mile on day 1.
Regan Smith broke and re-broke her own 100 back record on day three of the 2018 Central Zone Sectionals in Akron, Ohio.
Another national record fell on day 2, with the North Allegheny boys shattering their own 400 free relay record.
