Cincinnati swimming and diving was nothing but victorious on Saturday as the men’s and women’s teams beat both Miami (Ohio) and Michigan State.
Cincinnati defeated beat both Miami (OH) and Michigan State at a tri-meet in Oxford, Ohio on Saturday. MSU, in turn, downed the host Redhawks.
Ohio State’s Josef Pohlmann’s meet record in the 50 fly highlighted the third day of the 2019 Cleveland Sectional meet at Cleveland State University.
Four more sectional meet records fell in Cleveland as the Ohio State Swim Club leads the team scores.
Houston dominated the meet for their third straight American Athletic Conference title, winning four events on the final day of action. The Cincinnati men repeated as champs, and did so by winning every event except the 200 breaststroke on Day 4.
The Houston women more than doubled their lead on Day 3 of the AAC Championships, winning three events, while East Carolina won five of the six events on the men’s side, but Cincinnati still boasts the overall lead.
The Houston women took a sizeable lead, winning three of four events on Day 2 of the AAC Championships, while the Cincinnati men took a modest lead over East Carolina as the men’s meet threatens to come down to the wire.
A short session didn’t produce much difference in the team scores, as the Houston women took a small lead on Day 1 of the American Athletic Conference Championships, while the East Carolina and Cincinnati men are essentially tied.

University of Cincinnati swimming and diving had a strong showing on Saturday afternoon in a sweep of regional rival Miami, with the Bearcat women posting their first win over the Redhawks since 2001.
Eleanna Katsouveli broke her own Houston school record in the 200 IM at the American Athletic Conference Championships.
The Bearcats won 27 of 32 events en route to beating D3 powerhouse Kenyon.
