The NL Aquatic Center’s 12-lane 25-yard competition pool has officially opened in Voorhees, New Jersey. Along with the competition pool, there will also be a 20-yard Lesson pool and a Physical Therapy pool, both still under construction.
The pool is owned by NL Aquatic Center, which is a private company. The facility is worth about 3.2 million dollars.
The new pool is music to the ears of South Jersey Aquatic Club National Team Head Coach Adam Ritchie, who express his excitement for the new facility, as it will allow their entire team to train in the same facility and also presents the opportunity of hosting meets:
“I can’t say how great it will be to have our entire team training under one roof. This team has been through a lot of changes in the past 10 years and has been re-located many times. It has been a very long time since the entire team has been able to train in one facility. I am excited for the older swimmers to have the opportunity to mentor their younger teammates and for the younger swimmers to get to watch how hard the older kids work every day. We also are planning to host meets here. We want to try and run some different kinds of meet formats. For example, we are going to host a “college dual” meet where we literally follow a college meet format w/ relays, keep score, etc. We are hoping it will bring some of that college meet excitement to an early season non-championship USA meet.”
