Training & Practice Management

Meet Management & Administrative Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit all required information for swim meets and attend meets as assigned.
• Support budget monitoring and adhere to YMCA budget philosophy.
• Assist with Annual Campaign efforts by recruiting volunteers and supporting team events.

Additional Responsibilities

• Maintain strong communication with all YOTA and YMCA Aquatics staff.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in related field preferred and 1+ year of related experience.
• ASCA level 3 swimming coach certifications preferred.

• Maintain clear professional boundaries with swimmers and families and adhere to the American Swimming Coaches Association Code of Ethics, the USA Swimming Code of Conduct, and all SafeSport, USA Swimming, and team policies regarding athlete safety and protection

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: HS or GED degree, bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience: 4+ Years of experience coaching for a USA-Swimming team as a USA-Swimming certified coach, or coaching for a Collegiate Swim and Dive program or YMCA swim team
• Certificates:
  • Coaching membership that is in good standing with USA Swimming
  • Has met all USA Swimming certification and coaching requirements (Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Athlete Protection, Concussion, Mandatory Reporting: Understanding Your Responsibility etc.)
  • Completed USA-Swimming’s ‘Welcome to USA Swimming’ course, completed or working towards completing USA-Swimming’s ADM Age Group Certification. 
  • Must possess the following certifications from the Red Cross or other equivalent agency: lifeguard training, CPR, AED, and first aid

Physical Requirements:

Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach

Recruits prospective student-athletes, provides game-day coaching, and practice preparation, as well as operational duties within the Athletics department.

The head coach is charged with several major duties in connection with his/her program, including the recruitment of prospective student-athletes, game-day coaching, and practice preparation, the maintenance of the program’s budget and the development and implementation of a strategic plan for Athletics. Founded in 1955, the University of Denver Hilltoppers have been recognized as both Silver and Gold Medal club in recent years in the USA Swimming Club Excellence program.  The program has approximately 275 athletes.  The Hilltoppers primary facility is an indoor 50m x 25yd pool in the Ritchie Center on the University of Denver Campus, located in south central Denver metropolitan area.  The team is committed to development of physical literacy through the GAIN dryland program.

POSITION SUMMARY:

University of Denver Hilltoppers are seeking an assistant coach for our age group program ages 8-12.  We are hiring for multiple training groups.  Opportunities may include overseeing one or two practice groups depending on applicant qualifications and availability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Head Age Group Coach + Facility Event Coordinator
