The Brambleton Bettas Swim Team is a member of the Old Dominion Swim League (ODSL) located in Brambleton, Virginia. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to serve as our Head Coach for the summer season. As Head Coach, you will lead a team of assistant, junior assistant, and volunteer coaches, and work with approximately 250 swimmers from ages 4 to 18.

Our swim team is all about creating a safe, fun, and inclusive learning environment where kids are given every opportunity to maximize their potential while gaining confidence in the water and building lasting community relationships among our families. We stress sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth and development, and encourage our swimmers to do their best while cheering on their teammates.

As head coach, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the team’s training, providing swimmers with positive feedback to reinforce proper swim technique, managing practices and seed meets, including relay selection. You will work closely with our assistant coaches to ensure that all swimmers receive the individual attention and guidance they need to succeed. On deck at the meets as head coach you will cheer on all swimmers, represent the best interest of our swimmers, and interact with on deck officials as needed to ensure our swimmers have the best experience possible.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about coaching and has experience working with young athletes. You should be patient, and encouraging, and have excellent communication skills. In addition, you should have strong organizational skills and be able to effectively manage a team of coaches.  Prior experience coaching a swim team is recommended.

Practices begin Tuesday, May 28. Our summer season wraps up with the ODSL All-Stars meet on Saturday, July 27. Weekly practices are held each weekday in the afternoon before Loudoun County Schools let out and in each morning there after. Swim meets are held on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. The commitment is 6 days per week for this span of time.

– 1-3 yrs of coaching experience; Head coach of a club experience desired

– Understanding and experience in competitive swimming, stroke mechanics, USA swimming rules and regulations

– Passion and enthusiasm for working with young swimmers focusing on development and community swimming

– Encourage, develop, motivate, and support those swimmers desiring competitive swim goals

– Ability to write and develop practices for swimmers of all skill levels

– Strong Organizational skills

– Strong communication skills to effectively interact with swimmers, parents and coaches

– Strong collaborative work ethic and provide mentoring to assistant coaches

– Working knowledge of Swimtopia is a plus!
