Long Island Aquatic Club is a Nationally ranked competitive swimming club that operates out of Eisenhower Park in the Freedom Pool and the Nassau County Aquatic Center.  LIAC has consistently been the top-performing New York City Metropolitan Area swim club for the past 20 years. Recognized as one of the most elite competitive swim programs in the United States, we consistently field one of the top 10 teams in USA Swimming’s Virtual Club Championships, and our teams have won Junior National, Sectional, Senior Metropolitan, and Junior Olympic titles.

LIAC is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Senior Team Coach to work under the direction of a Lead 13O Group Coach.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for playing a key role in supporting the development and success of swimmers within the Senior program. You will collaborate closely with the 13O Lead Coach to execute training sessions, monitor athlete progress, and create a positive and motivating atmosphere for swimmers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Implementation:
    • Work with the Lead Coach and assistant coaches to implement seasonal,
      weekly, and daily workout plans.
    • Track and evaluate the progress of swimmers within training groups
  • Team Culture:
    • Model and celebrate the club’s values and behaviors.
    • Work collaboratively and respectfully with other club leaders and staff.
    • Apply positive, consistent, and effective motivation strategies with swimmers,
      parents, and coaching staff.
    • Foster team spirit and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Swimmer Development:
    • Identify individual strengths, areas for improvement, and goal-setting strategies.
  • Meet Participation:
    • Encourage swimmers to attend and actively participate in swim meets.
    • Provide on-deck coaching support at swim meets as needed by management.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain valid USA Swimming coaching certifications.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous coaching experience in competitive swimming preferred.
  • Previous competitive swimming at the club, high school, and collegiate level preferred.
  • Understanding of swimming techniques, training principles, and competition strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff, parents, and swimmers.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, and passionate about the development of athletes.
  • Ability to pass a Background Check.
  • Current certifications in USA Swimming required certifications or the ability to
    obtain such certifications.

Additional Information:

  • Reimbursement for USA Swimming certifications is available upon completion of all requirements and verification of good standing with USA Swimming.
  • Expense reimbursement for meets away from the home pool.

Compensation commensurate with experience.
