We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed National Assistant Coach to join our high-performance team. This role involves working closely with both Malaysia’s National Team and the National Junior Team, playing a key part in shaping the future of swimming excellence in the country.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the National Head Coach to design and implement training programs for the National Team, ensuring optimal preparation for international competitions.
- Lead and manage training sessions for the National Junior Team, focusing on athlete development and progression toward senior-level performance.
- Assist in the strategic planning of both teams’ competitive schedules and training camps.
- Provide individualized technical feedback and support for swimmers, enhancing their stroke mechanics, race strategies, and overall performance.
- Work with sports science and medical teams to monitor athlete health, fitness, and recovery.
- Participate in talent identification programs to nurture emerging talent for future success.
- Travel with both teams to national and international meets, providing coaching support during competitions.
- Maintain effective communication with the coaching staff, athletes, and stakeholders to align training objectives and expectations.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated coaching experience at the national or international level, preferably working with both senior and junior athletes.
- Relevant coaching certifications (e.g., ASCA Level 4 or equivalent). Advanced certifications are preferred.
- Strong understanding of elite athlete development and junior talent pathways.
- Excellent technical knowledge of swimming techniques, training methodologies, and competition preparation.
- Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse group of athletes and coaching staff.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage training schedules and competition commitments for both teams.
- A team-oriented mindset with the ability to foster a positive and high-performance culture.
- Willingness to travel frequently for training camps, competitions, and other related events.
- Strong communication skills to provide feedback, reports, and updates to stakeholders, including athletes, parents (for junior swimmers), and federation representatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience coaching at international competitions.
- Familiarity with Malaysia’s swimming development pathways and programs.
- Experience integrating sports science and technology into training plans for performance optimization.
