The Interim Head Coach – Men’s & Women’s Swim and Dive (Part-Time) is responsible for leading and
managing all aspects of the program during the interim period. This role focuses on coaching,
recruitment, compliance, and supporting student-athlete development within the scope of a part-time
position. The coach is expected to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, while
maintaining a student-centered and mission-driven approach.
Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks/Essential Functions:
● Lead all aspects of the men’s and women’s swim and dive program, including planning and
conducting practices, workouts, and meets.
● Recruit and retain qualified student-athletes consistent with the College’s academic standards and
athletic goals.
● Promote academic achievement and ensure student-athlete compliance with institutional and
NAIA eligibility standards.
● Oversee and manage assistant coaches and student staff.
● Assist in developing and executing a competitive schedule in collaboration with athletic
administration.
● Monitor and manage the program budget responsibly.
● Maintain athletic facilities and equipment related to the swim and dive program.
● Foster an inclusive team culture that prioritizes personal development, teamwork, and
sportsmanship.
● Ensure safety and proper supervision during all practices and competitions.
● Represent Aquinas College positively in all public relations and community outreach efforts.
● Collaborate with athletic administration on departmental initiatives and event operations.
● Adhere to all institutional, KCAC conference, and NAIA policies and procedures.
● Responsibilities will be fulfilled within the constraints of a part-time schedule.
Knowledge, Skills and Education Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
● Previous collegiate coaching experience strongly preferred.
● Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor student-athletes in a competitive collegiate environment.
● Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
● Strong organizational and time management abilities.
● Knowledge of swimming and diving techniques, training, and conditioning.
● Experience with athletic recruiting, compliance, and team administration.
● Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
● Frequent standing, walking, and physical activity associated with sports instruction.
● Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
● Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive as needed.
● This is a part-time role with a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and limited
travel.
